Lecturer in Computer Engineering

He was born on December 21, 1980, in Lefkoşa. He completed his secondary and high school education at Bayraktar Turkish Maarif College and Turkish Maarif College in 1994 and 1997, respectively. In 1997, he began his undergraduate studies at the Department of Computer Engineering at Near East University, supported by a full scholarship. He graduated with honors in 2001.

He completed his Master of Science in Computer Engineering at Near East University in 2004 and earned his Ph.D. degree in 2007. During his MSc and Ph.D. studies, he worked as a research assistant in the Computer Engineering and Electrical and Electronic Engineering Departments.

From 2013 to 2023, he served for a total of 10 years as the Chairman of the Departments of Information Systems Engineering and Software Engineering. He was a founding member of the Department of Artificial Intelligence Engineering and served as its Vice Chairman. During the 2020–2021 academic year, he served as Vice Director of the Institute of Graduate Studies.

His research interests include Artificial Intelligence and its applications, Computer Vision, Machine Learning, and Image Processing. He has published more than 70 SCI-indexed journal articles, conference papers, and book chapters. His current research focuses on the use of AI for medical diagnosis, underwater image enhancement, and theoretical advances in machine learning. He has made significant contributions to academic journals and conferences as an editor, guest editor, reviewer, member of the scientific board, and consultant. To date, he has supervised more than 100 Ph.D. theses, MSc. theses, and undergraduate graduation projects.
