Mission – Vision
Mission
The mission of the Department of Management Information Systems is to educate individuals who integrate information technology with management sciences,possess analytical thinking skills, have well-developed problem-solving abilities, adhere to ethical values, and are innovative and socially responsible. The Department aims to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills,and to produce graduates who are competent in areas such as digital transformation, data analytics, information systems management, and AI-supported business processes. Additionally, by addressing the dimensions of research, application, and contribution to society through a holistic approach, the Department aims to contribute to the development of students into professionals capable of competing at both national and international levels, equipped with a lifelong learning mindset.
Vision
The vision of the Department of Management Information Systems is to be a pioneering, innovative, and respected department that integrates the fields of information technology and management through an interdisciplinary approach, leading in education, research, and societal contribution. The Department aims to establish a nationally and internationally recognized academic structure by producing graduates who possess the knowledge, skills, and competencies required by the digital age; who can make data-driven decisions, develop technology-focused solutions, and adapt to the evolving business world.
Program Information
Qualification Awarded
The students who successfully complete the program are awarded the degree of Bachelor of Science in Management Informatıon Systems.
Level of Qualification
This is a First Cycle (Bachelor’s Degree) program.
Specific Admission Requirements
In the framework of the regulations set by Higher Education Council of Turkey (YÖK), student admission for this undergraduate program is made through a university entrance examination called YKS. Following the submission of students’ academic program preferences, Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM) places the students to the relevant program according to the score they get from YKS.
International students are accepted to this undergraduate program according to the score of one of the international exams they take such as SAT, ACT and so on, or according to their high school diploma score.
Exchange student admission is made according to the requirements determined by bilateral agreements signed by NEU and the partner university.
Visiting students can enroll for the courses offered in this program upon the confirmation of the related academic unit. Additionally, they need to prove their English language level since the medium of instruction of the program is English.
Qualification Requirements and Regulations
The students studying in this undergraduate program are required to have a Cumulative Grade Points Average (CGPA) of not less than 2.00/4.00 and have completed all the courses with at least a letter grade of DD/S in the program in order to graduate. The minimum number of ECTS credits required for graduation is 240. It is also mandatory for the students to complete their compulsory internship in a specified duration and quality.
Recognition of Prior Learning
At Near East University, full-time students can be exempted from some courses within the framework of the related bylaws. If the content of the course previously taken in another institution is equivalent to the course offered at NEU, then the student can be exempted from this course with the approval of the related faculty/graduate school after the evaluation of the course content.
Profile of the Program
The primary objective of the Management Information Systems (MIS) Program is to educate individuals who can
integrate business management with information technology, manage digital transformation processes, and effectively
utilize technology-enabled decision-making mechanisms.
The program prepares students for the technology-driven structure of the business world by equipping them with
both theoretical knowledge and practical skills. An interdisciplinary education is offered in fields such as
business, management, software, data analytics, and information systems.
Throughout the program, courses are updated with content that keeps pace with technological advancements; the goal is to help students
develop core skills such as problem-solving, analytical thinking, project management, and system design. Through English-supported content, students’ international collaboration and communication
skills are also strengthened.
The YBS Program aims to produce graduates who are innovative, capable of critical thinking, value ethical principles, are sensitive to sustainable development
goals, and possess the ability to shape the future of technology.
